Healthier Homemade Cheese Crackers

Tomorrow I'm leaving for a camping trip, so the day today was spent preparing food to take with us. We will have to hike in all our food which means lots of dehydrator action to save some weight. Currently I have 8 trays going full of lentil stew with garden veggies, peanut butter kix snack bars, blackberry apple peach fruit leather, and fruit chunks for oatmeal breakfasts. I only made one thing today that caught some oven time... Homemade Cheese Crackers!

I love cheese crackers and they… Continue

Trades! How I've been feeding myself with almost no money.

Lately I have been doing a lot of trades. Most specifically, food items for food items, though not strictly.

These trades are one on one trades that I set up though various websites with other food lovers and frugals like myself.

My latest trade for example: I received gluten free cornbread for some kefir grains.

It can be tricky at first, I mean, what value does something handmade actually have? What is a fair trade? Their are lots of things to consider and you can… Continue

Hey Kendra, I don't know what nanking cherries are but they sound interesting.  If you still have one available, I'd love to trade.  Here is a short list of some things I have to barter:

I have home made Apricot wine that has been aged 2  years, organic Red Kuri (Kabocha) squash seeds and Organic Delicata Squash seeds.  Also have some squash and melon starts such as Baker Creek Banana Melon, Tiger Melon, and Rouges Vif D'Etampes pumpkin variety.  Also have Egyptian walking onion bulbs and Baker Creek flower seeds I'm willing to trade too.  Let me know if any of this interests you.

Thanks, Kim

Oh, How interesting. I have never heard of them referred to as cherry plumbs.  I just call them wild plumbs and they are one of my favorite wine making fruits (along with blackberries and elderberries) to forage.  I haven't tried cherries or strawberries yet and am determined to try it this year ;-)  Do you make fruit wines?
