Scarlet Runner Beans

This is two plants. They are several years old, each winter they die back, but in the Spring new leaves appear and later beans appear.

We recently made nasturtium pesto and capers. Delicious!

The nasturtium is a companion plant as aphids like the scarlet runner bean plant. I've read the beans co evolved with the hummingbird and the beak and tongue of the bird fits perfectly the flowers of the plant. I do have regular visits from hummingbirds, They go from blossom to blossom harvesting nectar.
