Halloween cordial - Fennel Liqueur

If you love the taste of black jelly beans/licorice, you might want to try to make Fennel Liqueur this week.  Grab some vodka - the cheap kind will do.  Throw in 3-4 fennel seed fronds from your garden - I think wild will do as well and you can find that anywhere in Cali!. Throw them in the vodka for 5 days. Then remove the fronds, add sugar (to taste) and shake till blended.  Throw your liqueur in the freezer and enjoy as soon as it's ice cold. Yum!

Just started a small batch of Blackberry / Elderberry hard cider for the One Block Feast contest we entered.  Blackberries are ready in Sausel Creek. See my blog post here.

Cool post Freya, would like to try to make beer some day.  Let us know how it goes, especially the challenge of getting it fizzy.

I just posted about my first brewing project at Peculiar Purls. Check it out! Comments on the post are welcome and anyone with ideas for Peach Beer are needed.

Hey everyone, now is a great time to plan for summer fruit wine making. Flowering trees will soon start to produce fruit such as plums, peaches, nectarines and apricots. There are many wild plum trees in public areas that are great for wine making. If you want a place to start looking, write me off line. Plums and apricots are first to ripen in June.
