Quick question, I have both my Cherokee green and purples in a spot where they got 7 hours of pretty intense sun when the sun is out :). Both are in 15" pots, I notice the leaves seem to be curling lengthwise. Is this due to too much sun (as opposed to moderate sun exposure but preserving warmth). Here are somelarge.jpg epics

Hello all.  I've finished my planting and find I have six mystery heirloom tomato starts to share.   Unfortunately, they became separated from their ID tags so...could be a nice Black Krim, could be an Aunt Ruby's German Green, could be a San Marzano Radorta paste or an Martino's Roma, could be a yummy little Bondkopchen cherry.  Ya got me.  :-) Plants are already hardened off, transplanted to cow pots and ready to go.  Please let me know if anyone can offer a home to these little guys 'cause it gives me a huge sad thinking about having to pitch them into the compost.  Oh, I've also got an extra mini chocolate bell pepper up for grabs (the only one in the tray that was distinguishable from the others!)

Thanks Laurel, I started the garden a little late this year so half my tomato plants were purchased as 8 inch starts.  The one doing best is the heirloom Vinson Watts.  I pinched off the lowest branches and buried it deep in heavily composted soil.  So far that and luck are my secret.  I'm also excited about the Black Sea Man tomato as it has begun growing well.

Wow Kim,  I'm impressed!  You must have some serious tomato magic to have gotten them so far along in the ridiculously un-sunny weather we've been having.  What's your secret?

I used some of my neighbors compost and now have a dozen or more mystery tomato starts available.

Hi Everybody, I have some extra Heirloom Tomato Seedlings that I would love to trade for other Heirloom Starts, Fruits, Nuts or Eggs. They just need to be hardened off, so they should be ready in 10 days or so.

The starts are Italian Costoluto Genovese Tomato (Larger tomatoes good in salads or as paste) and German Riesentraube Tomato (Cherry).

I'm particularly interested in Strawberries, Blackberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, Onions (Red & Yellow), Green Onions, Cabbage, Hot Peppers and Herbs (Basil, Dill, Oregano, Chives & Sesame).

I would also be interested in trading for fruit: Apples, Oranges, Avocados or nuts: Almonds, Cashews, Macadamias, Walnuts & Peanuts.

Woohoo, picked up two starts, Cherokee Green, and Cherokee Purple from the the farmers market this weekend past. They are out in front in pots....

 

Quick related question. How hard is it to grow Basil, how fast does it grow

I've got starts in pots and seedlings going. I'm excited for the caprese party at the end of summer!
